Operation Homefront's annual awards recognize eight outstanding young people ages 13 to 18. Seven of them represent a branch of the armed forces for their scholarship, volunteerism, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and other criteria while facing the challenges of military family life. The eighth award is the Military Child of the Year® Award for Innovation presented by Booz Allen Hamilton. This award goes to a military child who has designed a bold and creative solution to address a local, regional or global challenge. Nominations may be made by parents, other family members, teachers, counselors, coaches, community officials, church leaders, neighbors and others. Anyone may nominate a child for this award, so long as the child meets the following eligibility requirements: Child must be a legal military dependent. Status confirmed by Military ID or DEERS enrollment form. Child must be between the ages of 13 and 18, at the time of nomination.
